SEPiT Connect

SEPiT Connect is a structured peer group designed to help Sport and Exercise Psychologists in Training (SEPiTs) develop skills, gain confidence, build experience, and support each other through organised roleplay, discussion, and networking sessions, shared resources, and collaborative growth.

Our mission is to make the journey of becoming a Sport and Exercise Psychologist less isolated, more collaborative, and more empowering. We provide a supportive space for SEPiTs to share experiences, bounce around ideas, strengthen their development, and maintain momentum, while always respecting the formal supervision process.

The vision is to build a connected community where no SEPiT feels like they are “figuring it out alone.”. It will rely on SEPiTs to be proactive. But, by promoting peer learning, shared challenges, and collective growth, while creating opportunities for development in these areas, SEPiT Connect will help shape a generation of sport and exercise psychologists who are more resilient, skilled, and supported throughout their training and beyond. We want Sport Psychology to become far more of a community, far earlier in the process.

01

Join the community

To join, you must be currently engaged in a British sport psychology accreditation route. If this is you then get in contact and Pete will send you over the details to get things started!

02

Choose your membership

There are two membership options: Standard (totally free), and Plus (£7 per month). Both come with great value! Take a look below for more info.

03

Engage and connect

The community works if we all engage. Say hello, ask questions, check in, ask for opportunities. This isn't something to join then go quiet, speak up and get involved!

04

Grow and develop

Share the community with other SEPiTs to help it grow. The more we all connect and engage, the more we will all grow and develop!

Whats on offer?

SEPiT Connect is first and foremost about community. A place to network, develop, and grow as practitioners. There are two options for memberships: Standard and Plus. These offer different benefits but we believe both offer tones of value.

The Standard Membership is totally free. The Plus Membership comes a small monthly fee of £7 due to the time, resources, and management of the additional offerings. This comes with some proactive events and activities to help facilitate great peer development. See below...

Services and Offerings

  • An access to all group chat with all SEPiT Connect members.

  • Ask questions, prompts, and reflective questions.

  • Let people know of upcoming events.

  • Discussion pieces.

Opportunities Channel

Whether you’re looking for work experience, a placement, a volunteering project, or a research collaboration, this is your space to find it or share it.

  • Post job vacancies, shadowing opportunities, and consultancy work relevant to SEPiTs.

  • Share volunteering roles, student research projects, or paid freelance opportunities.

  • Reach out to others if you’re seeking a collaborator, co-facilitator, or participant.

CPD Hunting Channel

All Members (Standard & Plus)

Finding good, affordable CPD as a trainee can feel like hunting for treasure. This channel makes that process easier, and collective.

  • Share upcoming CPD events, webinars, workshops, and conferences you have found.

  • Recommend CPD you've attended and found valuable.

  • Ask the community if they know of CPD on a specific topic or format.

SEPiT Cafe

All Members (Standard & Plus)

  • A quiet, (neurodiversity-friendly) virtual co-working space.

  • Members show up via google meets, work on whatever they want, and hold space foreach other (if a question needs asking you can quickly check in, as you would in a study session with a friend).

  • No pressure to speak or even turn on your mic, just a shared space for accountability andcommunity. It is a commitment to yourself for sitting down and getting those things which keep getting pushed done, and it is a commitment to others to show up and hold that space.

Practice Role-Plays Channel

Plus Members

  • I will organise and prepare monthly role-play sessions for SEPiTs to practice and develop skills.

  • These could be used to go towards competency development (as per guidance in the candidate handbook) but I would run it by your supervisor first. Aside from that though, it is great practice to test whether you have actually hit the mark on things and can help enhance our confidence and performance, while providing an opportunity to learn from others.

  • Members can request role-plays of a specific context, but I will create rough scenarios to work on as well.

  • If everyone consents, sessions can be recorded as well and videos distributed for people to reflect on or work through with their supervisors.

  • This could potentially also be used as evidence (see candidate handbook or BPS equivalent).

Referral Channel

Plus Members

Have too much on your plate? Too many clients/too much admin to work through? Have a client who for whatever reason, you feel you cannot or should not work with? We all know how vital it is as a practitioner to have a strong network to refer out to IF it is needed.

  • A channel to seek out other trainees who may be suitable to take on work if and when you need to refer someone on or cannot continue/take on work with a client.

  • (It might not happen often, but it is worth having!)

This will need to be done at the practitioner’s discretion and support from supervisors, as with everything else, is advised. This is a networking tool.

Resource Library

Plus Members

  • Share resources which have been useful.

  • Request resources such as templates or frameworks.

  • Develop ideas for resources and handouts.

The Workshop, Workshop

Plus Members

As SEPiTs we aim to do a tone of workshops. Here, members can workshop their own workshops! By sharing ideas, asking for feedback, or even testing them out on other SEPiTs.

  • Upon request, live workshop practice session and feedback sessions, delivered virtually.

  • Members can record themselves and request feedback (could also bring this to their supervisor for their supervision sessions!).

Critical Friends Chanel

Plus Members

Reflection is a practitioner (or trainees) superpower. We do a lot of this on our own, but we can also do this with others. We want to get better, and to get better, sometimes you need someone to test whether you have actually hit the mark.

  • This channel exists essentially, to play devils advocate.

  • Send in an approach, experience, thought, etc you have experiences, or want to pursue. The members who respond to this MUST play devils advocate (at least until the end of the discussion).

  • They do not need to actually disagree with the statement, but by essentially role-playing an opposing thought/perspective/voice, we are able to consider areas we might not have considered before.

This being said, things must remain respectful of course.
